Interstitial ads are pages that open when you click to go from one site to another, and instead, arrive at a third site you weren’t expecting. Often this site has a countdown and then offers to continue to the site you were originally trying to open.
Banner ads are usually graphics but sometimes contain text. They are meant to attract surfers’ attention and get them to click on them to visit whatever they are advertising. Banner ads are a very common type of advertising, and there is a variety of different banner forms and sizes to choose from.
Pop-up ads are small (and sometimes large) windows that pop up (hence the name) while another page opens or occasionally when it is closed. They are usually quite flashy in hopes of catching web surfers’ attention.
Text ads are presently one of the biggest forms of online advertising. The right words in the right place can sell your product. Text ads generally contain one or two lines with a clickable link. They are usually priced on a CPM or CPC basis.
Opt-In Mailing
Opt-in mailing is a type of advertising that is quickly increasing in popularity. Opt-in mailing is sending emails to lists of people that have opted to receive more information on a certain subject. If you decide to use opt-in mailing advertising, be sure to check the reputation of the list providers.
Sponsorship ads usually appear in a discreet corner of a page, often inviting you to look at a sponsor’s page to help the site stay up. They also occasionally run you through a sponsor’s page as you download something.
